The Second Spring Campaign A $13.5 million Capital Campaign, the Second Spring is our opportunity to provide for the needs of Saint Andrew Parish and School today and invest in the anticipated growth in the future. We are growing! The Diocese of Fort Worth is one of the fastest-growing dioceses in the United States. Our parish community is attracting new families each week, and our school, the largest Pre-K through 8th-grade school in the diocese, has an outstanding reputation for its academic excellence. We have outgrown our current school facilities. Thriving ministries and activities in our parish are demanding more meeting and gathering areas. Individuals and small groups in our parish and school community are seeking sacred spaces for prayerful reflection. Our current preschool was built as a temporary one more than three decades ago. Our cafeteria seats a very limited number of students at a single time. And, our middle school needs updated equipment and facilities to maintain competitiveness and prepare our students for graduation. Finally, given the COVID-era, outdoor learning has never been more important, yet our existing campus has few opportunities. Now is our moment. We are asking all those connected to the Saint Andrew community to make a 5-year sacrificial gift and invest in the future growth of Saint Andrew Catholic Church and School. Now is our moment. This is our “Second Spring” and our chance to plant seeds that will bloom for generations to come. This growth campaign includes five key elements.
A signature piece of the project is a small Chapel that will serve as a prayerful place for parishioners and school students. Designed to accommodate groups of approximately 30, the Chapel features beautiful stained glass windows and a view to the Outdoor Learning Center and Garden. The prayer intentions of all Second Spring donors are remembered in the services held in the Chapel.
An Early Childhood Life Center will provide our youngest Wildcats with areas for sensory exploration, recreation, and movement, as well as innovative elements designed to meet the crucial needs of early childhood development and learning. This building will replace the 30-year old portable and Parish Hall classrooms currently used by our pre-school program.
A state-of-the-art Cafeteria/Multipurpose Center will provide much-needed additional space for parish activities, including retreats, receptions, and meals. For students, it will upgrade our 50-year old cafeteria and more than triple the existing capacity with dual serving lines and more spaces for students to enjoy school lunches, both indoors and outdoors. Access to the cafeteria/multipurpose center is through a new entrance to a spacious common area that includes a recognition wall honoring all donors to the Second Spring Campaign.
The Wonderly Family 7th and 8th Grade Wing, located on the second floor, includes a brand new lockers commons area, six dedicated classrooms and a fully-equipped science lab. The classrooms are larger than before, offering plenty of space to spread out, and include windows for natural light. A small conference room for small-group collaboration is also included. The new wing offers “everything in one convenient location” for the seventh- and eighth-graders, with accessible lockers and minimal travel time between classrooms.
An Outdoor Learning Center & Garden (OLCG) will allow students more opportunities for hands-on, place-based learning experiences as well as enable them to learn more about nature and the environment while enhancing other subject areas. The OLCG will include spaces adaptable to many types of activities such as an amphitheater, raised beds for planting, benches and other seating, statues of our Catholic faith and Stations of the Cross, and a beautiful, multi-purpose pavilion. The pavilion will offer protection from rain and shade in hot weather and can be used as an outdoor classroom and gathering area for occasions such as receptions, liturgies, and other SAS community events.
Please support the Second Spring campaign to fully fund these projects with no debt to the Saint Andrew Parish and School Community. Any funds raised in excess of the cost to complete the buildings will be used for future capital projects and to maintain our existing facilities.
