How Do I Know My Child Is Ready for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion?

Does the child talk about Jesus or God as a real person who is active in everyday life?

Does the child know the story of Jesus, Jesus was born a human birth, died a human death and chose to resurrect?

Does the child pray regularly and in different situations?

Does the child participate during parts of the Mass on Sunday? (sing, return responses, know appropriate gestures)

Does the child recognize the Bible as a way God talks to us?

Does the child understand ways that priests are special?

Does the child understand that God talks to us through other people or that other people are gifts from God?
To celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist and First Holy Communion,
a child must be able to:

recognize that Jesus is present under the appearance of bread and wine.

receive the Sacrament with faith and devotion.

age appropriately participate at Mass
