What are the Signs my child is ready to become a Catholic-Christian?

  1. Desire to learn about the Word of God as revealed through Scripture, the tradition of the Church, and the living practices of the faith.
  2. Willingness to let the Word inform attitudes, choices, and behavior in public and private relationships.
  3. Desire for a personal relationship with Christ, manifested by a developing habit of prayer, reflection on the Scriptures, and consideration of the connection between the truths of faith and daily life.
  4. Commitment to "full, conscious, and active" participation in the rites associated with Christian initiation and the life of the Catholic Church, especially in the parish.
  5. Approriate familiarity with and engagement in the pattern of Catholic life in its communal prayer and worship.
  6. Active practice of the virtues, especially charity to others.
  7. No canonical impediments to receiving the sacraments and living a fully Catholic life.
Minors must also have the approval of at least one custodial parent, expressed in writing.
