Baptism Ministry

Mission/Activities: To prepare parents and godparents for the baptism of their children up to the age of six. Volunteers are needed to sew baptismal garments, help coordinate semi-annual potluck suppers for the families of newly baptized and to assist with Baptism Preparation classes

Bereavement Ministry

Mission/Activities: To provide comfort and healing to those who have lost loved ones. A monthly coffee , information and discussion are available. Volunteers can facilitate sessions or provide hospitality for the gatherings. Training is provided.

Care to Homebound & Hospitals

Mission/Activities: To reach out as a community of faith to those who cannot come to church or parish activities because they are homebound or in the hospital. Misiters of care provide a compassionate presence with the homebound through regular visitation. Hospital volunteers visit parishioners who are hospitalized.

Childcare Ministry

Mission/Activities: To provide Quality childcare in a safe, loving Christian environment. Volunteer opportunities include: Parent volunteer co-op, Children’s advisory board, nursery during weekend masses, nursery during Holy Days and services, St. Andrew weddings, Parent and Tots play group, and Parents night out. Training is provided.

The Learning Center

To provide safe formation and basic learning skills for children 18 months to 14 years of age on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30AM to 2:30PM. Volunteers provide special programs in language, art, music, etc.

Come Home Ministry

Mission/Activities: The team extends and facilitates an open door invitation to inactive Catholics that provides a safe, accepting environment where a new journey can begin toward a fulfilling relationship with God and the Catholic community.

Healing Hearts

Mission/Activities: To be a healing presence to families who have lost a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion. Volunteers plan the annual memorial service for unborn children. Provide prayerful support to families within our prayer chain. Make appropriate contacts with grieving families following the loss of their babies.

Just Faith

Mission/Activities: To provide an opportunity for parishioners to study and be formed by the justice tradition articulated by the Scriptures, the Church’s historical witness and Catholic social teaching. The goal is to empower parishioners to develop a thirst for justice and to express their passion through concrete acts of parish social ministry. Meet for readings, videos, lectures, discussion, prayers, retreats and hands-on experiences in justice education. Service opportunities are available.

Little Rock Scripture Study

Mission/Activities: Meet weekly on Sunday for coffee and refreshments, opening prayer, scripture reading, group discussion, lecture (tape) and closing prayer. Facilitators for small groups are needed.

Mother and Daughter Tea

Mission/Activities: The Mother Daughter program explores God’s special gift of human life and fertility and the beauty and wonder of God’s plan for growing up and becoming a woman. Team members coordinate the tea.

Prison Ministry

Mission/Activities: To encourage outreach to incarcerated persons. Strive to meet the scriptural needs of prisoners and provide access to the sacraments. The ministry provides pastoral outreach to families of victims and families of those who are incarcerated.

RCIA for Adults

Mission/Activities: To provide a process each year from January to Pentecost for those people interested in becoming Catholic. Volunteer opportunities include sponsoring an RCIA candidate, Hospitality Team Member and Prayer Support.

Annulment Ministry

Mission/Activities: Provides educational workshops and assistance for persons seeking a marriage annulment in the Church. Training is provided for advocates through the Diocesan Tribunal Office.

Rebuilding (Divorce Recover rogram) & Divorce and Beyond

Mission/Activities: This ministry for separated and divorced persons is designed to provide a safe Christian environment to promote healing, growth and hope for the future. Volunteers who have participated in divorce recovery form the team

Sponsor Couple Program

Mission/ Activities: Married couples meet with engaged couples and help in their preparation for marriage. Become a sponsor couple and help others have a good beginning to their marriage and strengthen yours in the process.

The Troubadour
Parish Nurse and Pastoral Care

Good health includes physical, emotional and spiritual well being. The focus of this ministry includes all aspecys of physical health which will extend beyond the more traditional idea of health as the absence of illness. Health fairs, education and related programs are part of this ministry. Volunteers should be registered nurses or other healthcare workers.

Altar Servers

Mission/Activities: To assist the presider at weekend masses and other parish liturgies. Open to all youth grades six and up.

Art and Environment Ministry

Mission/Activities: Open to youth and adults who are willing and physically able to help decorate the church for Christmas and Easter.

Baptism Set-Up Ministry

Mission/Activities: To prepare the sanctuary for baptisms, setting out the holy oils, water and linens needed by the presider.

Children's Liturgy of the Word Ministry

Mission/Activities: This ministry is co-ordinated through the Office of Ministries with Children and Youth and the Department of Liturgy. Those involved provide the Scriptures (Liturgy of the Word) for children in a separate room on an age appropriate level. Open to youth and adults.

Deaf Ministry

Mission/Activities: To interpret the Mass, religious education classes, etc. in sign language for those hearing impaired. To foster a greater sense of community for the hearing impaired. Open to those qualified to interpret for the hearing impaired who want to be part of a faith sharing group.

Eucharistic Ministers to the Homebound Ministry

Mission/Activities: To minister the Eucharist to the homebound and to the sick. Open to trained, commissioned Eucharistic Ministers.

Mission/Activities: To minister the Eucharist at parish liturgies. Open to youth (8th grade and up) and adults.

Funeral Reception Ministry

Mission/Activities: To provide a light lunch or reception following funerals for bereaved parishioners. Open to anyone willing to cook, buy food, serve or clean up.

Funeral Vigil Ministry

Mission/Activities: To provide Funeral Vigil Services the evening before a funeral. Those in this ministry are trained to lead this Scripture service or Scriptural Rosary and provide additional support to bereaved families.

Guadalupe Ministry

Mission/Activities: To assist in preparing the annual Guadalupe Mass in December, to be a part of a Hispanic choir, to help organize and encourage others to attend. This ministry also helps to identify and provide for the needs of the Hispanic Community.

Hospitality Ministry

Mission/activity: To provide hospitality at various parish liturgies, including greeting parishioners and guests, assisting with the Sunday collection, second collections, seating, and distributing bulletins. Open to families and individuals (5th grade and up for youth).

Lector Ministry

Mission/Activities: To proclaim the Scriptures and lead the Prayer of the Faithful at parish liturgies. Open to youth (6th grade and up) and adults. Training is provided.

Quinceanera Ministry

Mission/Activities: To help prepare families for the traditional 15th birthday celebration for females or males by assisting with preparation classes, rehearsal, and liturgy. Open to youth and adults. Parent/youth teams welcome.

Sacristy Volunteers

Mission/Activities: To assist the sacristan in cleaning, mending, washing, polishing liturgical hardware, providing assistance with funerals or special liturgies when the sacristan is unavailable. Open to youth and adults.

Wedding Ministry Youth

Mission/Activities: To assist the priests, engaged couples and their families as wedding rehearsals and wedding liturgies. Communicate guidelines on church customs and parish practices. Open to youth and adults. Parent/youth teams welcome.

Welcome Committee

Mission/Activities: To welcome newcomers and visitors to our parish and help with the Welcome Table during monthly breakfasts in the Parish Hall.

Prayer Chain

Mission/Activities: Join in a circle of prayer from your own home. As requests for prayers from fellow parishioners are received, volunteers call one person in a chain to join in a daily petition for those intentions.

Mission/Activities: To minister to the assembly and enhance the liturgy through handbell music. Open to young adults and adults who read music.

First Eucharist Council

Mission/Activities: To help catechized children who have had age appropriate religious education, prepare for, celebrate and fully participate in the Sunday Eucharist through celebration of Holy Communion. First Reconciliation

Mission/Activities: To help catechized children prepare for and celebrate First Reconciliation. Opportunities include: Sacramental Preparation Coordinator, Facilitator and Hospitality.

Confirmation Preparation

Mission/Activities: To have an understanding of what the sacrament of Confrmation is and to awaken the presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the candidates. Candidates also participate in Community service. Open to youth at least 15 years of age who have received the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist. Volunteer opportunities include confirmed peer minister and adult leaders.

RCIA Adapted for Children

Mission/Activities: This ministry is in conjunction with RCIA and the office of Adult Formation. The rite is for children and youth ages 7 to 18 who are not baptized or have been raised in a different Christian denomination or who have had no formal religious education. Opportunities include: RCIA Adapted for Children Team, Coordinators of RCIA Adapted for Children, Sponsors and Peer Sponsors.

Rebuilding for Children and Youth

Mission/Activities: To provide a listening, caring environment for children as they face the process of divorce in their family while parents participate in the Adult Formation Rebuilding program.

Elementary Religious Education

Mission/Activities: To provide lectionary-based Religious Education programs for children preschool through Grade 5. Opportunities include: Catechist, Aide, Service Project Coordinator, Liturgy of the Word with Children Coordinator, Music Ministry, Hospitality Coordinator, Materials Coordinator, Supply Coordinator and Puppet Ministry.

Middle School & High School Religious Education

Mission/Activities: To help adolescents develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the Christian community, and increase their knowledge of the core content of the Catholic faith. Religious Educatiuon classes are currently offered for grades 6 through 12. Sessions are staffed by adult and high school youth colunteer co-catechists. Training and curriculum are provided.

Vacation Bible Camp Additional Volunteer

Mission/Activities: To offer a unique faith experience in a relaxed atmosphere for prayer, Bible story telling, play, music, crafts, and snacks. Opportunities include: Coordination Team, Snack Team, Storytelling Team, Games Team, Music, Chapel Team, Craft Team, Camp Counselor and Aide.

Cross Training Services

Mission/Activities: To give all high school youth an opportunity for fellowship, worship and exploration of their Catholic faith in a casual atmosphere through various means including music, slits, games, video and speakers. Judi K. Skinner 5K Run Graphic Design

Mission/Activities: The Judi K. Skinner 5K Run is held each September in memory of Judi K. Skinner, SAS parent and founder of the SAS Spirit Club. The run is open to all and includes a 1 mile Fun Run. Volunteers are needed for sign in, water stations along the course, finish line and set-up as well as clean-up.

Food Pantry

Volunteer opportunities include: sacking groceries, interviewing, picking up bulk pantry items, picking up furniture and appliances, stocking shelves, bagging rice & beans, etc. We especially need people who can do heavy lifting (minimum of 50 lbs.), and bilingual (English-Spanish) speaking volunteers.

Meeting Setups

Mission/Activities: To provide welcoming and organized meeting space for all our ministry work. Volunteer Opportunities include: setting up and taking down tables and chairs, preparing tea and coffee, setting out paper products and clean up. This is an ideal stewardship opportunity for families.

Mission/Activities: To provide a clean and healthy environment for our parishioners and visitors. Volunteer opportunities include: deep cleaning of the Parish Hall kitchen, the Community Center, the Pastoral Center and the Church.

Mission/Activities: To assist St. Andrew ministries in production of various publications of general interest in a variety of forms. Mission/Activities: The parish picnic provides a fun and enjoyable lunch with outdoor activities for children. Grounds/Maintenance

Mission/Activities: To provide assistance in maintaining St. Andrew Parish buildings and grounds. Volunteers are needed to help in the following areas: Carpentry/Construction, Cleaning, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscaping/Grounds Maintenance, Painting and Running Cable.

Building Committee

Mission/Activities: To assess and prioritize the repair and maintenance needs for the St. Andrew Buildings (church and school). The committee meets periodically and continually maintains a 10 year building maintenance plan that includes all the primary building systems such as HVAC, roofing, brickwork, painting, carpentry, plumbing, etc.

Mission/Activities: To review and make recommmendationsrelating to the employee handbook, procedures, job descriptions, professional development, etc.

Girl Scouts

Mission/Activities: To provide the means for girls, kindergarten to 12th grade, to participate in scouting. Help guide them to share of time, talent and treasure with our church community. If you are an adult who is fair, dependable and trustworthy, you can help Girl Scouts and have fun too! From troop leaders to supporters, and consultants to campers, the success of Girl Scouts depends upon the work and leadership of caring adult women and men of all ages.

Cub Scouts

Mission/Activities: To develop character and integrity for boys from 1st through 5th grade, to teach responsibility and build confidence and leadership skills. The Cub Scout motto is “Do Your Best”. The Cub Scout promise is “I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and my Country; to help other peopl, and to obey the law of the Pack”. Many volunteer opportunities are available: Den and Assistant Den Leaders, Pack Committee positions, such as Pack photographer, webmaster, religious awards chairperson, popcorn sales chairperson, bowl-a-thon chairperson and others. Time commitment varies.

Boy Scouts

Mission/Activities: To promote the scouting ideals of duty to God, to Country, and to self. The Boy Scout program at Saint Andrew is a fun and exciting adventure for boys from 6th through 12th grade. Boy Scouting teaches citizenship, leadership, moral values, duty to God and Country, and outdoor camping skills. The scouts have fun as they advance in rank and maturity on the trail toward Eagle, the highest rank in scouting.

Knights of Columbus

Mission/Activities: To provide members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families, and young people. St. Andrew Council #9868 started in July of 1988 and has an active group of men and their families that help promote the four main precepts of our order; Charity, Unity, Fraternalism and Patriotism.

Women of St. Andrew

Mission/Activities: The Women of St. Andrew seeks to enable the women of the parish to grow spiritually and to encourage participation in family, community and parish life. Unless otherwise requested, families are assigned to circles by geographic location.

Serra Club

Mission/Activities: To gather together and make possible programs that attract men and women to the priesthood and religious life, while at the same time providing recognition and support for those who have already accepted God’s call. The Serra CLub is made up of dedicated Catholics who have committed themselves to support the work of the Church, especially through prayer and service to those who are thinking about or have decided that they have a vocation to the religious life. The following programs are part of the Serra Clubs annual plan: Regular Meetings, Vocation Awareness Program, 31 Club, Poster Contest, Monthly Benediction Service, Altar Servers’ Programs, Vocation Recruitment, and Seminarians’ Support.

Fort Worth Catholic Singles

Mission/Activities: An organization dedicated to buillding an association that sponsors many religious, social, cultural, charitable and athletic events. This organization seeks to increase and establish fellowship among single adults. Membership is open to all single adults, divorced, separated and widowed. Activities include dances, movies, dinner, lunches, and many other fun things.
